February 2, 1914 — January 21, 2013

On January 21, 2013, surrounded by his loving family, age 98yrs. Beloved husband of the late Victoria (nee Bullock). He was also pre-deceased by his grandson, Mark Fitzgerald Kennedy Jr. He was the son of the late Samuel and Alice Kennedy (Fitzgerald), born in Philadelphia, was raised in Pine Hill and lived in Barrington for over 66 years. Mr. Kennedy retired from Mobil Oil Refinery, Paulsboro in 1976 with 30 years of service. In the mid 1950s, he, along with a small group of other fathers formed the Barrington Little League and Babe Ruth League. His LL team – Charlie’s Clothes – was the first league champion and he was the first All-Star manager. In September of 2001, while his son Thomas was the Captain of the USS Chancelorville, Mr. Kennedy was named an honorary crewmember of the ship. In May of 2006 he was named an honorary graduate of Haddon Heights High School, where all 7 of his children graduated. As a youth, and well into his seventies, he also worked as a caddy at Pine Valley G.C. where he met and walked the course with many dignitaries, sports stars and entertainers. On the occasion of his 93rd birthday, the Board of Directors of Pine Valley presented him with a resolution commemorating his many years of service to the club. He loved all sports and especially enjoyed attending athletic events and other activities when his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were participating. As often as he could he would also go the racetrack where – in 2004 – Philadelphia and Delaware Parks named races for him in honor of his 90th birthday. Mr. Kennedy is survived by his 7 children, Raymond Jr. (Peaches), John (Joan), Victoria (James) Albertson, Betty (Gene) Connell, Thomas (Barbara), Michael (Peggy) and Mark (Kelly). He is also survived by sisters-in law Mary Melko and Margaret DiMuzio; 21 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing on Thursday evening from 7 to 9PM and again on Friday morning from 9am to 10am at the POPIOLEK FUNERAL HOME, 400 Clements Bridge Rd, Barrington, NJ where a Funeral Service will follow at 10am. Interment St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Chews Landing, NJ. If desired the family requests memorial donations to the charity of the donor’s choice.
