Suddenly, on September 16, 2006 of Barrington, NJ age 65 yrs. Chet was raised in Pennsauken and graduated from Palmyra High School. He worked with the Sheriff’s Dept for many years until he was accepted on the Camden City Police Dept., where he served for 25 yrs. He loved his job, especially walking the beat, where he was well liked by the community. He was a member of the F.O.P and the P.B.A. Chet is survived by his wife Janet (Nee. Giese) of 33 yrs, his son Layne, daughters Tatina and Gabriella, stepsons Mark, Chris, and Tim and several grandchildren. Sisters Betty Jean Lee, Virginia DeShields, Marie Howard, and the late Sandra Watson and Victoria Thomas. Brothers Isaac, Edward, and Harry DeShields and the late Theodore Deshields as well as a host of nieces, nephews and friends, especially, special friends Joe Synder, Montel Williams, Tom Jones and Dr. Jack Dovberg. Chet loved walking all over the town of Barrington where he would stop and talk to almost everyone. He especially enjoyed spending his mornings at Ed & Ben’s Service Center. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend his viewing on Wednesday evening from 6 to 9PM and again on Thursday morning from 10 to 11am at the POPIOLEK FUNERAL HOME, 400 Clements Bridge Rd, Barrington, NJ. Funeral service 11am at the funeral home. Interment Lakeview Memorial Park, Cinnaminson, NJ.
