David G. Holmes

On April 11, 2018 of Runnemede, NJ, age 69 yrs. Beloved husband of Andrea (nee Grandelli). Devoted father of Lynne Kaznica (Joe), Joe Ponzio (Lyndsey Storino), Krista Holmes and David Holmes. Dear brother of Bill Holmes (Mary). Loving grandfather of Paige, Morgan, and Joseph. Also survived by his mother-in-law Dora Grandelli, as well as his nieces Jennifer and Melissa. David was a 1967 graduate of Audubon H.S. and was later drafted into the U.S. Army. After training, David served in Vietnam where he became an American Hero earning a Silver Star,2 Bronze Stars, and 3 Purple Hearts. Upon returning home from Vietnam, David went to work and eventually retired from Rastelli Meats in 2017. David had a great passion for drag racing was a long-time member of the National Hot Rod Association, the East Coast Stock Super Stockcar Association, and worked in the Pit Crews of several drivers of the National Hot Rod Association. Although David was devoted to Veterans and Hot Rod racing, his true passion was being with his family. Relatives and friends are invited to his visitation on Monday evening from 5:30 PM to 8:30 PM at the POPIOLEK FUNERAL HOME, 400 Clements Bridge Rd, Barrington, NJ.
