Devoted to family, friends, and her community, Florence “Sue” Oropallo (nee Spore), passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, March 19, 2024. Sue celebrated her 100th birthday on July 26, 2023! Born and raised in Voorheesville, NY, Sue was the beloved daughter of the late Clara and Charles Spore and the sister of the late Donald Spore. She graduated from Bethlehem Central High School in 1940. Sue then attended Syracuse University, where she majored in Home Economics. After graduating she worked as a fashion copywriter for Deys Department Store in Syracuse. Later, she used her skills to make a beautiful home for her family, sewing, cooking, baking, and decorating. Sue was predeceased by her husband of 67 years and love of her life, Anthony “Doc” Oropallo, MD. She is survived by her children James Oropallo, Richard and Marian Oropallo, Susan and Michael Watson, Terry and Jim Self, and Janice and James Rebbeck; grandchildren: Jeffrey and Renee Watson, Julie and Matthew Kelly, Lisa McKeown, Matthew and Sara Self, Mary and Jesse Clancy, Michael and Katherine Oropallo, Charles and Patricia Oropallo, and Ellen Rebbeck; great-grandchildren: Matthew, Darren, Kieran, and Callie Rose McKeown, Gianna, Nicholas, Cecilia, Sophia and Joseph Watson, Patrick and Sean Clancy, Elizabeth and Emily Kelly, Josephine and Owen Oropallo, and Chloe and Violet Self. Sue is also survived by her Sister-in-law Betty Oropallo, as well as many beloved nieces and nephews. Sue served as a charter member of the Barrington Women’s Club, a member of the Barrington Fire Company Lady’s Auxiliary since 1952, and a member of the Historical Society and Civic League. She was a lifetime member of the New Scotland Historical Association of Voorheesville, NY. Sue enjoyed painting ceramics for her home and sharing many beautiful pieces with her family. Sue was passionate about taking pictures and filming special moments. Sue and Doc followed many sporting events, but most especially their beloved daughters’ softball games. They were also avid fans of the Brooklawn American Legion Baseball Team, traveling across the country for games. Sue and Doc shared 67 years of marriage and adored their family. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her viewing on Saturday morning from 10am to 12PM at POPIOLEK FUNERAL HOME, 400 Clements Bridge Road, Barrington, NJ, where a Funeral Service will follow at 12PM. Interment New St. Mary’s Cemetery, Bellmawr, NJ.
