(nee Delfi) of Cherry Hill, NJ, passed away suddenly on April 12, 2024, age 78 years.
Marlene is survived by her beloved husband Ernest Frank Lamanna, with whom she shared 57 devoted years of marriage. She is also survived by her two children, Audrey Lamanna of Marlton, NJ, and Ryan Lamanna (Marlys Mead) of Magnolia, NJ. In addition to her parents, Margaret and Frank Delfi, Marlene was predeceased by her sisters Loretta Zarabba, Ann Di Pompo, and Frances Del Rosso. Marlene was a graduate of South Philadelphia High School, class of 1963, where she was the editor of both the school newspaper and the yearbook. Marlene loved reading and learning, and went on to
earn bachelor’s and master’s degrees in education, a second master’s in psychology, and her Doctorate degree in Counseling Psychology. She taught English and Reading at Washington Township High School for many years. Marlene was a very social person who enjoyed book clubs, playing bridge, telling stories, going to the movies, historical presentations at the Peachfield Institute, and seeing live shows in Philadelphia. Relatives and friends are invited to her viewing on Saturday, April 20, 2024 from 9:30 am to 11:00 am at POPIOLEK FUNERAL HOME, 400 Clements Bridge Rd, Barrington, NJ where a Memorial Service will follow at 11:00 am.
