Ruth D. Whitehead (née Rivel), age 95, of Barrington died December 26, 2019. She lived in Barrington, NJ since 1956. She was married in 1946 to Jack Whitehead and they have 4 children. She was married for 65 years. Ruth is a member of Christ Church in Woodbury, NJ. She enjoyed the services, listening to the choir and watching the young acolytes and choristers. She thoroughly enjoyed the pancake dinners and the annual picnics. Ruth was the 4-H leader for The Blazing Saddles 4-H Club. Blazing Saddles participated in the 4th of July Parades in Barrington. Blazing Saddles is documented in Barrington Historical Society book. She was also involved in the Drum & Bugle Core with her children in Barrington. Ruth enjoyed horses, gardening, working at the animal adoption center, fishing and camping. Ruth worked at RCA when she was a young lady. She was Barrington's Avon Lady and she also sold Tupperware and Amway. Ruth was also a Den Mother for the Cub Scout's in Barrington. Ruth will be always and forever in our hearts. Ruth was the wife of the late John Joseph Sr. She is survived by four children, Elaine Joyce Holmes, John Joseph Whitehead Jr. (Peggy), Shirley Ann Whitehead, and Bonnie Lou Whitehead; six grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren. Viewing will be Tuesday 9-10am at Popiolek Funeral Home 400 Clements Bridge Rd. Barrington, NJ where Burial Office will be read at 10am. Committal will follow at Locustwood Cemetery Cherry Hill, NJ. in lieu of flowers, family requests donations to Christ Church Building Fund 62 Delaware St. Woodbury, NJ. 08096.
