Nereida R. Martinez

(nee Rodriguez) Passed away peacefully, on March 3, 2023, of Pitman, NJ, formerly of Yauco, Puerto Rico, age 85 years. Beloved wife of the late Leonardo Martinez. Devoted mother of Susana Martinez (Samuel Rosetti), Leonardo “Nando” Martinez (Rachel), Leonardo M. Martinez (Roberta Chien), and Elaine Domenech (Orlando). Loving grandmother of Steven Walker- Martinez, Iliane Domenech, Katrina Walker-Martinez, Manuel Martinez, Catalina Martinez, Lileana Domenech, Iliana Domenech, Marco Martinez, Elenora Martinez, Matteo Martinez, and Benicio Martinez. Nereida was born and raised in Yauco, Puerto Rico. After attending beauty school, Nereida became a successful aesthetician and opened the Neri Beauty Salon in Ponce, PR. As the Matriarch of the family, Nereida took great pride in caring for her entire family, from her husband to her grandchildren. Her home was always filled with nieces and nephews, whom she loved. Wherever there was a need, Nereida was there to lend a hand. Additionally, Nereida was an active member of her church where she was an usher and volunteered many hours feeding the homeless. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her viewing on Friday, March 10, 2023 from 7pm to 9pm and again on Saturday morning from 10am to 11am at the POPIOLEK FUNERAL HOME, 400 Clements Bridge Road, Barrington, NJ, where Funeral Service will follow at 11am.
